RESTAURANT REVIEW: CASPER & GAMBINI'S VICTORIA ISLAND, LAGOS

Hi,  Happy independence Nigeria, not like i'm totally proud to be Nigerian at this point in time. Naija hasn't given me anything to be proud of anyway. That aside, yeah! It's another week coming to an end and it's always exciting bbecause it's the weekend. LOCATION   I was at this restaurant a few days ago, Casper and Gambini's In Victoria Island. It's close to Spice Route and Mitsubishi show room, at Agoro Odiyan street, off Adeola Odeku. I checked it out with my friend. It was relatively late like 11pm/12am.  AMBIENCE / HOSPITALITY   It's a nice place with an earthy and homely kitchen-inspired interior and beautiful ambience. The waiters were polite and really courteous. They have an extensive and impressive menu, from starters to house special main course. Took me a while to pick my choice. The bush girl in me was looking for something familiar, lol. That's why most times, i'd rather stick to my seafood specialty. It's quick and popu

NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC? WHAT'S THE BEST MAKEUP BRUSH FOR YOU?

There are countless brands of makeup brushes out there. Picking the best that guarantees your makeup application goes smoothly is of utmost importance. Some of us get carried away by the brand name because of its longstanding reputation. Like I tell people, don't always concentrate on the brand names. What more important is the materials the product is made of. Even a less known or inexpensive brand may have turn out better to suit your needs.  So the question is, how do I know which makeup brush is best for me? Which of these should I purchase? Generally, there are two types of makeup brushes. Natural and synthetic makeup brushes. One may have a preference for the natural or synthetic type. I like to use both alternatively because they work differently depending on which makeup products I am applying on my skin. NATURAL BRUSHES Natural brushes are made from animal hair like sheep, goats, etc. They are very soft and silky on the skin. These brushes are fluffy and puff

HOME SWEET HOME: BACK IN WARRI

Feels so wonderful to be back in Warri after being away for months. You know, Lagos have a way of getting under your skin and you could almost get sucked into the frenzy. Been living in Lagos for about a year now and I am almost turning into an Eko babe o, lol. But as usual Warri no dey carry last, so am still much of a Warri babe front and centre.    Been a long while I had a road trip. I took a vehicle from the island to Warri. The idea of taking a cab to the airport, the distance from the island and these Nigerian airlines and their unreliability. Your flight getting postponed or cancelled for one reason or the other without any compensation or explanations. We all know how incompetent our local airlines are. You know the routine, so I quietly packed my baggage and all to one transport company. The journey was smooth and bump-less because the vehicle wa fresh and new. It rained on the way and I tried not to sleep but the air'conditioner will not let me live. I dozed

BEAUTY/MAKEUP MUST-HAVE : RUBY WOO LIPSTICK BY MAC

Ruby Woo by MAC cosmetics is one of the few lipstick in a shade of red that looks good on all skin tone. And it suits just anyone which is totally great and this should be a must-have for every lady except you don't use lipsticks at all. If not, you have to get one. This is my favourite lipstick. The first day it tried it on, about two years ago I instantly fell in love with that colour. It made my lips pop. Prior to that I never liked red lipsticks. I have really full lips and I felt using red would make it look too big and funny. So I always shied away from any shade of red.  Ruby Woo has a drying effect . For a perfect look, you will have to top it on your lip like 4 times, since it's a matte lipstick. For some ladies, it may feel a bit too dry . But for me, it's ok. I love matte lipstick more than glossy lipstick. The wonderful thing about Ruby woo is that it can stay on your lip all day long without even a touch up and it doesn't smear easily. A few comp

YOUR BODY AND SKIN NEED A DETOX SOAK / BATH

Photos: Instagram      What's a detox soak or bath. This is basically a warm soak or bath fused with certain healing natural ingredients aimed at relaxing the body, cleansing and flushing out toxins and at the same time absorbing therapeutic minerals into the body. A detox bath or soak is a cleansing therapy that soothes the body and mind. The warmth of the bath water helps to open the pores, allowing the skin to eliminate toxic wastes through sweating leaving your skin looking refreshed. ORI (UNPROCESSED RAW SHEABUTTER) VERY GOOD FOR NATURAL HAIR

Sheabutter is a plant fat extracted from the African Shea Tree which is found mostly in West Africa. It is commonly called 'Ori'. It is a very good remedy for natural hair. Grooming our typical kinky natural hair can be a task for some of us and finding the best ingredients and products to take care of natural African textured hair may not come easy. The predominant products out there were basically made for non-kinky hair types. There are lots of ladies who are going natural and most do no want to apply chemical product like relaxers to make their easier to work with. That is why is always recommend you go for organic and non processed ingredients if you you trying to groom your natural hair.    I have been using natural unprocessed raw sheabutter on my natural  hair for about 5 years consistently and I discovered that ori (raw shea butter) helps to thicken and give more volume to the hair. I have a really thick and kinky type of hair and it gets a little difficult to

SPRAY PERFUMES ON THE PULSE POINTS AND MAKE THE SCENT LAST LONGER

I have never been a fan of perfumes back then . I am more into  body spray because the alcoholic content of perfumes give me headache.  A close friend of mine though, has been spoiling me continuously with some bottles recently and my love for perfume is growing. Right now my favourite scent is Hugo Boss' Nuit and Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue.      Perfume or body spray are signature scents for individuals. Possessing a particularly scent can become a kind of personal trademark.  What comes to  mind is how to prolong the scent all day without having to tuck in your perfume bottles everywhere you go. This may not be much of a problem for those who prefer to go for expensive perfumes because their scents tend to last longer without spraying much .              BEHIND THE EARS, ON THE WRISTS , ANKLES             INSIDE THE ELBOWS,  BEHIND THE KNEES, COLLAR BONES  To make the scent of your perfume and body spray last longer, these are the most effective poi

BOOK REVIEW: THE 48 LAWS OF POWER : APPLYING THE RULES OF POWER TO ACHIEVING GREAT FEATS

One striking way any book can attract readers, is by displaying a catchy and bold title. I get attracted to a book easily if the title sounds deep. The 48 laws of power is one of such book. It's written by an American author Robert Greene and it is an international best seller the world over. This book is often referenced by most elite, successful business executives and individuals of high standing.    The 48 laws of power displays a timeless and definite meaning of what power truly means. These laws are often exhibited by powerful and significant figures throughout history and can be observed amongst the modern elites of today.    From the first law which states ; 'Never outshine the master', with its concise and simple explanation to Law 4 : ' Always say less than necessary ' ,this book will keep you hooked.  Law 25: 'Recreate yourself' and Law 29 : 'Win through your actions, never through arguments or judgements', are a few  of my favouri

THE MAFIA MANAGER BY V. -- IF YOU WANT TO CONQUER THE BUSINESS AND CORPORATE WORLD, THIS IS A MUST READ

I came across this book some years ago while I was in the university. I must say my young mind was captived by the way the author spun his magic trying to expose the corporate business world. Being a lover of books, I was first held spell bound by the title and curiosity got me flipping the pages. The knowledge there in,are things you can put to practice for personal use and also apply practically on your business to greater heights. I really wanted to talk about this book after I came across the title again while browsing the internet this morning. Reading the mafia manager is so refreshing and a change from the conventional leadership and business books that are common to find around. You should really grab a copy and experience exactly what am talking about and thank me later. You can purchase online at Amazon or a bookshop. It's even sold by those booksellers found especially during  traffic hold up.    The mafia manager is a book written by an elusive Italian author by

IT'S A BRAND NEW YEAR! WELCOME TO 2016!

Yeah!!!!! It's a new year, again. A new year always marks a new beginning to set new goals and thrive and also leave behind those negative habits in the old year past.So it's a fresh start and you have to kick start it the right way! Don't forget to start it with GOD  .And as usual, most people have got a list of positive new year resolutions to work on.    As  for me, for the first time,i do not have a new year resolution. Hahaha. Yas! It's a new year and some new sh*t,but am not starting afresh. I am going to be continuing from where I was last year, because I have come too far in my walk with GOD  and He's got my back all through. 2015 was a wonderful and fulfilling year for me as I was able to achieve 80% of what I planned for. Isn't that amazing? GOD  is soooo GOD . I have a notepad where I write all my expectations and plans for every new year. This morning I picked it up and scanned through and it's amazing how much GOD  made it all come through

LET'S SHOW SOME LOVE TO PEOPLE IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

It's a few hours before Christmas and as usual there's so much excitement and happiness in the air.We all must have bought the food items waiting to be prepared. While growing up,Chrismas was my favourite part of the year.I remember how my late mum used to take me and my brother to see 'father Christmas',lol. Now it's called Santa Clause. The only thing I hated was the cleaning and washing that goes along with all the activities involved in preparing the Christmas meal.I was a lazy kid back then, though small laziness still dey the body.     In this season of celebration, its so easy to get caught up in the excitement of buying, drinking, partying and celebrating. We may end up forgetting the people who are less fortunate to provide for themselves in the period of celebrations. There are people who find it hard to get even a day's meal, let alone taking part in this season of so much extravagance.    So let's take out time to put a smile on someon
