YOUR BODY AND SKIN NEED A DETOX SOAK / BATH

Photos: Instagram

What's a detox soak or bath. This is basically a warm soak or bath fused with certain healing natural ingredients aimed at relaxing the body, cleansing and flushing out toxins and at the same time absorbing therapeutic minerals into the body. A detox bath or soak is a cleansing therapy that soothes the body and mind. The warmth of the bath water helps to open the pores, allowing the skin to eliminate toxic wastes through sweating leaving your skin looking refreshed. Our body is exposed to toxic substances in the environment, chemicals, dust, carbon monoxide, contaminated water, food and even the food we eat. This is why it's necessary to have a detox drink and detox bath regular to eliminate these toxins in order for our body to function properly and not fall sick. A detox bath or soak is ideal for a physically tired body, mentally stressed mind, a sick person and also for anyone to stay healthy. Detox bath soothes body pains, sore muscle, boosts health and increases the immune system.

A detox bath involves mixing the bath water with helpful and natural items that includes aromatic, carrier and essential oils, bath salts, baking soda e.t.c.
Detox bath helps to relieve your mind and body from stress leaving you feeling better and healthy. I don't have a bath tub at home so I mostly do a detox bath. But the most soothing and effective way is doing a detox soak. I love how it feels when your body is submerged inside the tub and your nose is filled with the soothing aromas emanating from the oils. All you need for a detox bath is your ingredients and water in the bath tub and soak yourself in there for at least 30minutes or more.

Whenever am oppotuned to use a tub, I prefer to soak for like 2 hours minimum. But be cautious so you don't fall asleep in the tube and drown yourself. I have read stories of people sleeping in the tub and drowning. It is best to do a soak with someone close by so the person could check on you. But otherwise go for a detox bath instead. Never do a detox soak when you are home alone

Below is my favourite detox bath recipe. You can try it. There are countless detox recipes. It is all about mixing a particular oil depending on its quality to get the healing properties from them.

CALMING AND RELAXING CITRUS DETOX BATH
My love for citrus smell though, is inexplicable. I specially made this recipe infusing it with lemon or orange peel/ juice and sometimes lemon oil. I like the heady and natural smell of the bath water.

Cut lemon or orange in halves and squeeze juice in a pot.
Add a half a cup of apple cider vinegar. Boil mixture
Pour mixture into tub or (a bucket if you're having a bath)
Add 10 tablespoon of baking soda and
Add 4 tablespoon Epsom or sea salts,

Add 10 drops or 1 tablespoon Lemon
oil (or any essential/carrier oil of choice)
Mix the above items. Fill tub to brim with ordinary water and ensure water
not cold but warm.
Add orange or lemon peels
Add sweet smelling flowers like rose (optional)

Spice it up by dimming the electric lights, light aromatic candles,
Turn up slow and soothing music like soul or blues
You could grab a detox drink on the side (optional)
Step into tube and feel the bliss. Soak in tub  for 30minutes or more
Alternatively, you can take a bath with mixture inside a bucket instead
in the absence of a bath tub
After the soak or bath, let your body absorb the water and don't towel dry yourself. Allow body to air dry natural

This is a simple detox soak you can do at home with cheap items in your kitchen. So are you going to get a detox bath soon? Let us know about your experience on the comment section and share your detox recipe with us too.

SUGAR SCRUB: This how i made a simple 4-Ingredients DIY Sugar Scrub

I have a strict routine on exfoliating at least once every week. This morning I decided to do a diy sugar scrub. I did a face scrub with no essential oil. It included sugar, green tea, baking powder and water. All I did was mix them all with water. I wanted to see how it felt without adding any essential oil. Surprisingly after washing the sugar off, it felt as good as a professionally prepared scrub. I was so impressed that I had to use it again to do a total body, neck to feet scrub. Now I realised you could still do a scrub without using any oil and it will turn out as nice. You can give it a try. But ensure you scrub gently because the sugar feels more abrasive without oil.  You can let us know about your experience using an oil free sugar scrub.

PRODUCT REVIEW : BIO-OIL FOR SCAR, SUNBURN, STRETCH MARKS

Bio-oil is one of my favourite oil. I have been using it for years since my university days. This moisturising oil is formulated to hydrate the skin, clear off stretch mark, sunburn , acne, scars, uneven skin tone, aging  and dehydrated skin. It is so light and it gets absorbed easily into the skin and it is non greasy.  Bio oil is one product I can authoritatively recommended for any one who is suffering from the above mentioned skin issues.   I used to have uneven complexion and dark knuckles way back. I tried bio-oil and it worked. The  dark knuckles was from using different products randomly when I was still a teen. A lot of these products had hydroquinone which discoloured my skin . So I can say this product is a very suitable for damaged skin from skin bleaching . It can help to blend and repair the damage from  chemicals. It's an effective remedy for stretch marks. I have been lucky not to have much stretch marks but due to the nature of the skin, I still see a few slight
