PRODUCT REVIEW : BIO-OIL FOR SCAR, SUNBURN, STRETCH MARKS

Bio-oil is one of my favourite oil. I have been using it for years since my university days. This moisturising oil is formulated to hydrate the skin, clear off stretch mark, sunburn , acne, scars, uneven skin tone, aging  and dehydrated skin. It is so light and it gets absorbed easily into the skin and it is non greasy. Bio oil is one product I can authoritatively recommended for any one who is suffering from the above mentioned skin issues.

I used to have uneven complexion and dark knuckles way back. I tried bio-oil and it worked. The dark knuckles was from using different products randomly when I was still a teen. A lot of these products had hydroquinone which discoloured my skin . So I can say this product is a very suitable for damaged skin from skin bleaching . It can help to blend and repair the damage from  chemicals. It's an effective remedy for stretch marks. I have been lucky not to have much stretch marks but due to the nature of the skin, I still see a few slight lines.

I have prescribed it to a lot people who have confirmed seeing remarkable improvements on their skin. But some people are so impatient . They expect an overnight miracle. Tackling skin issues effectively involves patience and time for you to see a visible difference. Some people just use it after a week and come back telling me it didn't work. Your skin have to absorbe the products adequately in the required quantity for you to see the external improvement.

It's really a good product I will recommend anyday. But the only cons for me is that it has a tendency to lighten you up a bit and I noticed I broke out in pimples when I applied it to my face. So I won't recommend rubbing on your face regularly.  It's probably because of my extremely oily skin. When I first used it years ago, I needed desperately to even my skin tone and remove
those annoying black knuckles and knees, but after using it for a while I noticed I was getting lighter and people noticed and complemented me a lot that I looked better but I wasn't impressed.

Though my skin looked better but I wasn't happy with the fact that I was almost two shades lighter in complexion. So I stopped using it all over my body. I decided to concentrate on the problematic areas and stopped when I noticed the skin issues were solved. But the good thing was that, even after I stopped using it all over me, I went back to my former skin tone and I still retained a balanced and even skin tone. That was really impressive for me because I wasn't trying to get fairer or change my complexion. This product may make your a little lighter but would still improve your skin issues.

Am not a supporter of skin bleaching or lightening, but if you're looking to lighten up a little bit, bio-oil can work for you. The least you can do is to go about it in a natural and safe way. Due to the formulations of bio-oil which is mostly plant based and it as also been clinically proven to be suitable for pregnant women to reduce stretch marks on their belly too.

To even up your skin, you can mix it with your cream or lotion and if you prefer,  use it directly straight from the bottle on your skin. It can also be used as bath oil too.

SUGAR SCRUB: This how i made a simple 4-Ingredients DIY Sugar Scrub

I have a strict routine on exfoliating at least once every week. This morning I decided to do a diy sugar scrub. I did a face scrub with no essential oil. It included sugar, green tea, baking powder and water. All I did was mix them all with water. I wanted to see how it felt without adding any essential oil. Surprisingly after washing the sugar off, it felt as good as a professionally prepared scrub. I was so impressed that I had to use it again to do a total body, neck to feet scrub. Now I realised you could still do a scrub without using any oil and it will turn out as nice. You can give it a try. But ensure you scrub gently because the sugar feels more abrasive without oil.  You can let us know about your experience using an oil free sugar scrub.
